People keep calling the new Warbond debate an "infinite Super Credits" drama, but that makes it sound cleaner than it is. The real argument is about trust. Helldivers 2 earned a lot of goodwill because its paid content didn't feel like the usual live-service squeeze, and players could still chase Helldivers 2 Items without being shoved straight toward the checkout screen. Warbonds stay around. Super Credits can show up in missions. On paper, that's fair. In practice, though, the mood changes when another Warbond lands and everyone starts asking the same awkward question: am I playing for fun tonight, or am I working toward a currency target.
The problem is not that credits existSuper Credits being repeatable doesn't automatically mean the economy is broken. You can search minor points of interest, open bunkers, split off for containers, and come away with a bit of premium currency. That's part of the game's rhythm. The trouble starts when players feel pushed into doing only that. Running the same lower-risk missions because they're efficient isn't cheating, but it can flatten the game. Helldivers 2 is at its best when everything goes wrong at once: a charger stomping through smoke, a teammate yelling about samples, the extraction timer looking rude. A quiet credit route can't really compete with that.
Different players are living in different economiesThis is why the conversation gets heated so fast. A regular squad that plays most nights may see the system as pretty generous. They'll pick up credits naturally, maybe farm a little, and still unlock the Warbond they want. A parent with three hours free on a Sunday has a very different read on it. They might be playing properly, helping the team, clearing objectives, and still barely moving toward the next premium unlock. So when someone says, "You can earn it all," they're not wrong. But when someone else says, "Not at a pace that feels good," they're not wrong either.
Warbonds need restraint from players tooThere's also a personal spending trap here, even if no one likes admitting it. Not every Warbond is essential on day one. Some weapons look amazing in trailers and feel average once the community has tested them. Some armour passives are nice, not necessary. If your Super Credit balance is low, it makes sense to wait, watch early feedback, and buy what fits your actual loadout. Cosmetics are even easier to delay. The Superstore rotation can make things feel urgent, but missing one set of armour usually won't change how you play. That tiny pause before spending saves a lot of regret.
Fairness depends on how the grind feelsThe healthiest answer is probably boring, but it works: don't turn the game into a job. If you enjoy checking side areas during normal missions, great. If you want to farm for an hour with friends and chat while doing it, fine. But if you're bored, annoyed, or tempted by risky shortcuts, step away from the grind. Some players will save credits, some will spend cash, and some may choose to buy Helldivers 2 Items when convenience matters more than time, but the game's reputation rests on making normal play feel rewarding enough that none of those choices feels forced.
